John bids farewell

It has been a weekend tinged with sadness for the band, the North West Areas was Johns last official engagement as MD. It has been 2 eventful and fun filled years under John and we are sorry to see him go.

John took us on as a new conductor and left behind his first love of Sop playing with Pemberton Band, after two years away he misses the joys of playing and the travelling twice a week from near Preston has taken its toll.

John has proved popular with players and audiences alike, his concert choices have been challenging to play but enjoyable to listen to. The band has improved with a back to basics approach and benefitted from his experience of playing at such a high level.

We have experienced success under John on the contest stage as well, with a 3rd place at Buxton contest last year, the 5th place at Blackpool last year was our highest finish at the Areas since 2000 and we celebrated our most successful Whit Friday we have ever had on a rainy night in Tameside last year.

The band wishes John all the nest on his future endeavours and our door will always be open!

If you’re interested in the vacant position please see our advert post for contact details and information.
