MD Update – the search continues

The search for our new Musical Director has been going on now for a while so I thought it best to post an update.

We have seen some fantastic individuals and we were in a position to make an offer, unfortunately the offers we made were turned down for a couple of reasons all due to circumstances outside of the bands control. So we are opening up applications once again, please get in touch if you are interested in applying for this position.  Please see the original text below for the advert, what we learnt from the auditions is that this time we are looking for some experience. We enjoyed giving John his step-up in to conducting and it is something we will definitely not rule out in the future but for where we are now and where we want to be we need the experience to take us there.

The Blackley Band is seeking a new Musical Director to replace John Atkinson. Although the band has gone from strength to strength under John he is missing playing and wishes to return to Sop. We need someone now to take us to the next level. We are a 4th section band based in North Manchester just off junction 19 of the M60. Rehearsals are Monday and Thursday 8-10 pm at the local community centre.

We expect to attend a number of contests throughout the year and have a number of regular concerts and always looking to grow our list of jobs so suitable repertoire choices and audience engagement are essential. In the near future we hope to take on a large scale project, either a trip abroad (we have previously visited France and Germany) or a CD recording; a new MD can expect to be involved in the discussions and planning of these.
